Good evening all,

Quick question, and I know the answer is in the title, Daylight Running Lights, but has anyone found a way of keeping the DRL's on with the headlights or a way of using them as fog lights just like the newer E Class's do?

Many thanks.u

It was the intention form Mercedes that when the headlamps are on the driving lamps are not, though some have them dimmed. It could be unlawful as well,, still lots of different answers

As Malcolm says, they are deliberately arranged to be extinguished when the headlights are on. Modern OEM led DRLs are very bright and omni-directional. They are designed to alert other drivers to your presence, not to provide you with illumination to drive by. In the dark they could dazzle oncoming drivers and therefore their use at full brilliance at night is illegal. Some manufacturers arrange for the DRLs to dim to a safe level without actually extinguishing with the headlights on.

Thanks chaps, I knew the answer was in the title!

My neighbour has one and misses the fog lights like on her previous 171 which was the reason for the question.

Have a good evening.
