SLK 230 Fuel pump

Seems I have had a leak for some time and the fuel has perished the connections to the pump (according to the dealer). Is the pump something fairly straight forward to change and is a new pump expensive? The dealer is quoting £500/£600.

Any advice greatly appreciated :)
