SLK 230 - Locked out

Hello
I have a large problem with my 1999 SLK 230 - I can't get into it!
Key fob and spares have been given new batteries but still won't unlock to central locking.
Also the key blades won't turn in the locks, despite plenty of WD40
Mercedes in Cardiff told me to smash a window!!!!
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Had a similar problem with a BMW that I use to own, turned out to be a faulty central locking unit in on of the doors, apparantly is was burnt out and would not release itself or any of the other locking units. I was lucky enough to have access to some "special tooling" - basically a thin, flat metal blade with a hook on the end that I managed to pass down between the glass and the outer door seal and with a lot of persuasion managed to hook up the release lever in the locking mechanism. I'm not saying this can be done on the SLK, one of the "experts" will no doubt be able to advise you.

If you break the glass it will cost you about £115.00 and take about 2 hours to replace, plus lots of cleaning up! - I know I replaced a door glass last year on our 230;)

As there are only 2 170's I have had a look and it is the old fault of water in the boot shorting out the PSE pump, this in turns causes the locking not to work

You do need to get into the boot, as the battery may be flat owing to the shorting in the pump

The mod is to turn the PSE pump upside down, there are details here on this mod

I have already checked on both cars, there is nothing for the key that will not turn, I can help thinking are the the correct keys for the car, as this part is separate from the radio controlled locking

Andrew, the answer to your fault is in post 6 water in the PSE pump, I have no information on the door locks if the Key will not turn other than drilling out the boot lock and getting a new one,once the problems in post 6 have been dealt with
