slk 230 rattle in boot

Hi
I have an annoying drumming that sets up whenever I am driving on the rougher kind of road surfaces. It comes from the boot and sounds like the kind of thing you might get if you had a piece of steel wire loose inside a slender metal tube.
I've tried bashing things with my fist inside the boot, but I cant find anything that sounds the same. Any ideas anyone?

Could it be from under the car, exhaust maybe

I dont think so, it sounds like its right underneath the parcel shelf and its not related to engine revs etc, only on rough roads.

I will check to see if any known reasons exist

Rattle in the back of SLK

I had very similar problem and I was told it was baffles in the petrol tank.
'' Expensive'' so it is still rattling to this day.
any one fixed theirs, if that is really the problem.
