SLK 280 2007
Hello. I just bought a used 2007 SLK 280 yesterday. My biggest complaint is how low the front end is. I have to creep into any parking lot with a curb or incline. I have not gone over any speed bumps yet. Not looking forward to that. I don't wanna drive like I'm driving Miss Daisy. Is there a lift kit for the front end for these? Or a bumber guard for the bottiom of the front bumper?

Hello and welcome

I‘ve been driving an SLK 280 for the last 3.5 years and nearly 60k miles. I’ve not had any issues with the front end being too low. I’d recommend putting some standard springs back on the front - sounds like someones either lowered it or cut the springs

Thanks. That a possibility. I am the fourth owner. I see that the wheel well clearance is more at the back then the front. Looking a pictures online it kinda looks like the rear end is raised a little. Or the front springs just sagged and need replacing? I am going to take it to a shop I have dealt with to look it all over.

A couple of pics of mine and it’s “stance” (on standard 16’ wheels and springs)

OP post some pics up.
Mercs dont come out of factory being pimped which I guess yours has.
I would find a good merc indy near you, explain the situation and ask them to sort. Spring are specific (dot coded) and it could also be some spanner monkey has put wrong springs on previous.

As a side - your wheels and tyres are stock?

Looks like standard 16” wheels and it does look a bit low at the front compared to mine above

Check for broken front springs. They break at the bottom coil which makes them sag.

"a good merc indy"
That's a good idea. I will have to look one. I don't want to go to a real dealership.

Looks like the wrong front springs have been fitted at some point.

Could be a broken front spring, that happened to my SLK a year ago, normal garage spotted it after I reported funny noise/feeling, replaced springs both sides. Bottom of NS spring had broken. Helps of you post your approximate location in your profile, then someone local can suggest a decent local indie!!
