SLK 320 Power Windows

Hi there,

I am awaiting delivery of my new 'Final' Edition SLK320.

When I had an extended test drive of a brand new SLK 320 last year, I found that the power windows do not have an auto up/down function - so you have to hold the button down until it completely goes up or down.

I called the MB garage I regularly use and they told me that the windows in the SLK only have one switch and not two like every other MB mobile. They also said it was not an option that could be fitted in the factory or otherwise as it is set to automatically come down when the roof is opened. Does this also mean the super pricy SL has this same annoying problem ?

Is this true ? Does anyone else find this annoying ?? My current Merc is an A190 Avantgarde and all four window buttons have this auto up/down function so I find it unbelievable that a £36,000 SLK 320 doesn't !! :evil:

The one button does both. If you press the button down a bit it lowers/raises the window while you press it. If you press it down completely - till it clicks - it will go all the way down. There's no auto up function, for safety reasons I assume.

Are you sure there is no way I can get the switch set so that the windows can have the single click up ?

That is the bit that bugs me the most - not so much the down action (which the car I test drove did not have). :roll:

Some models have both auto up and down. My cabriolet doesnt, i think it may be a soft top safety thing!

My 2003 SL350 has auto up and down.

No doubt the new SLK will too.
