SLK 320 Washer problem

Help please, having filled my SLK 320 'X' reg screenwasher I noticed it running out under the car. Having just purchased it from MB, asked them about it to be told that it was not a fault, but you could only fill to about 80% as there was an overflow. Great, but how can you tell that it is 80% without a lot of windscreen wash being lost? Any ideas or are they having me on?
Apart from that, a brilliant motor.

Washer reservoir overflow

I have had my SLK 320 for six months now, and have now had cause to refill the washer reservoir. I experienced exactly this problem.

I note that there were no responses to this post, so I ask again is this a generic SLK/SLK320 problem? Or should I talk to those nice Merceses people!

Had exactly the same problem on my wife's SLK230. Booked the car into my local garage (not main dealer or specialist) who we use for MOTs etc. They identified the problem as a leaking washer pump and obtained a new unit from the local MB dealer. Surprisingly the genuine MB pump was around £15 plus 1/2 hours labour to fit it. I think we had change out of £40 inc VAT.

I think it is a fairly easy DIY job but involves jacking the car up, removing O/S road wheel and inner wing to gain access.
