I've done most of the service items for my SLK - i gave up last night as it was getting late (9pm) and a bit sad to keep servicing my car at that time of day. I need to check the gearbox level and may change to oil, but i did not get to look at where the dipstick/drain plug is and where to fill.

What specification G/B fluid is recommended?

I've used 5w/40 Fuchs Titan super synthetic, genuine filters and changed the dust filter(the old one had a 2002 date on and was black!)

All the other stuff has been looked at/checked - just the gearbox remains!

Mainly Mercedes
Depends on gearbox number. 716.600 - 716.639 = 1.2 litres; 716.640 - 716.679 = 1.5 litres. This includes the reduction of 300ml to improve gearchange 1st to 2nd when cold.

Oil should be 75W80 synthetic gear oil.

Edit to add - just remembered there is a sticky on this!!

I went out in it earlier and gave a MG ZR a bit of a race - no chance against the merc

I will check what box it has and change as required
