Hello...

I am the happy owner of a '97 230 SLK, the problem that i am having (as the topic title suggests) is with the aircon.  The other day the drivers side started blowing out hot air regardless of EC switch or temp setting, but the passenger side was working normally i.e. cold or hot air, but that packed up yesterday as well, i thought it might have been the rotary switch for the temp but after taking the unit apart i found it all to be integrated.... (DOH!)  Does anyone know what the problem might be? is it simply a switch or is the aircon FUBAR??

Thanks

Try switching the air-con off.  If the air is not being cooled the heater which is used to heat the overchilled air will be on and so hot.  Alternatively the heater valve could be ruptured allowing water through all the time.
