SLK alarm fault?

The alarm in my SLK has gone off twice during the past 4 months for no apparent reason. All electrical systems appear to be functioning as they should.

Ruling out the obvious (i.e. mechanical interference, wind accessing the vents etc.) what are the most likely causes? Could sudden temperature change trigger it?

Are M-B best placed to investigate this type of problem or would I be better off taking the car to an alarm specialist? Or is there a view that an occasional alarm malfunction isn't a problem?

Thanks for any investigative suggestions. Stu

If you can let me have the first 6 numbers of VIN, I will see what there is listed.
