SLK bose upgrade

I have a 98 SLK with the Bose audio upgrade which drives two subwoofers!!!!! Not fantastic but definately better than nothing.

I want to play MP3s and need to replace the head unit is it possible to find one that still runs the Bose upgarade?

my understanding is that there will be a built in amplifier as part of the bose package.. also i have heard that some of the bose systems simply plug straight into the ISO speaker connectors on the head unit and simply boost the sound.. probably wont work with modern high power head units.

If its by standard RCA jackplugs then you could fit any head unit..

What is the make / model of the existing head unit?

My 98 e-class had a standard sony cd head unit.. Now I have a splendid Alpine MP3 player.. fitted straight in..

I have a pioneer 7400 that i took from an old car

The wires in the ISO seem to tie up ok, however I have a third plug with just two wire on it that the Merc book says is for the sound system.

does anyone know what they are?
