My partners SLK 230k has a problem with the roof retracting, it worked ok 3 weeks ago, but now the windows open as they should and then the boot opens but that is where it stops, the roof does not do anything at all.... any ideas welcome please.

when opening try pushing the top of the roof to help it, when open use a good lub on the seal above the rear window screen, they glue them selfs together, there is a proper lub mb sell for the roof seals but it isnt cheap!!!

Hi
Have had this problem a few times myself,usually caused caused by the micro switch,its located on the right hand side inside the slot that the hinge travels in,try slipping your hand in the slot and flicking the switch a few times and try moving the wire harness slightly (the boot arm catches on it) hope this does the trick.

slk roof problem
Many thanks, it seemed to free itself and worked first time in the morning, althought it does seem temperamental, as sometimes it opens first time and sometimes it does not, and likewise it does not close sometimes.

The micro switches at the front are sticking. The remedy is to cut the little rubber boots off the switch.
You need to remove the roof liner and find the switches.

:cry::cry:I have a similar problem. I have been back to a main dealer 3 times in 3 weeks and it works when I leave the dealer but once left overnight refuses to work again. Picked car up yesterday working. Tried this morning not working again. My roof gets to the same point everytime and stops. Boot is open and roof does not fold. Cost so far £340 in labour charges and stil not sorted. To say I am anoyed would be an understatement. Am seriously thinking of getting rid of the car and getting something better built. Ony had it since December and had all sorts of niggly problems, from te indicators to the air con and now the roof
