Does anybody know the minimum thickness of the discs on my SLK 230 1998 before they need changing?

A wear guage may be built into disc .Look for a cut out on outside of disc and that is the MAX wear indicator.(Shaped like a D)

You will know buy visually inspecting them if they need replaced.
