Hi
Does anybody know what the minimum front disk thickness should be on a 1999 SLK 230K? (mine are down by approxiamately 3mm) and how easy are they to change?
A good manual would help, is one available in the UK? tried ebay etc: but not enough detail in the two CD's I have bought!
Thanks in advance
Peter

Most discs are recommended to be changed after about 2mm - 2.5 mm, which is not much at all. I have tended to go to 3 or 4 sometimes, but it depends on how safe you want to be.

brake discs are easy on the front -
1) take wheel off
2) remove phillips screw on face of disc.
3) remove two big bolts on back of brake caliper
4) swear as disc drops on the floor
5) remove pads
6) push pistons back and insert new pads (with coppaslip on sliding faces)
7) clean disc with disc cleaner solvent
8) put new disc on huib with philips screw
9) slide caliper back on
10) do bolts up on back of caliper to f'ing tight ;)
11) wheel on

theres a how to on mbclub.co.uk somewhere for a c class (much the same)
