Mrs AAPete has bought a SLK200 when it is dark and we have the lights on the instrument cluster is really hard to see, its as though there is a dimmer switch turned down low, there is a very dim light, anyone have the same problem?

heh yea as uncle benz.. the most likely option with it being a new car and not used to the controls is the reset switch that can be pushed in to reset Trip milage can also be twisted on some cars for the dimming of the lights you mention

Does anyone know how to remove the electrical connectors from the rear of an SLK (R170) instrument cluster?

I've tried for an hour and sadly it has defeated me. Obviously, I have been very careful as I dont want them damaged. This is so I can replace either the bulbs or the entire cluster. Cheers.

I think that there is a lever (plastic) over the top of the connectors,,lust lift the handle (often grey) and this lifts the plug from the socket

Cheers Malcolm. I have the grey covers but could get them to budge, will try in the morning.
