OK Can't figure it out! have a 2001 but looked for pin switches that trigger interior lights in the door piller, nothing obvious I can see, am I missing something? is it a pin that triggers the lights or something more complicated? only the nearside light of the 2 comes on with it swithed to the 1 position trouble is it won't switch off unless moved to the 0 position. I've tried waiting for 5 mins or so for auto switch off as in the manual but no joy. Anyone through some light on it for me many thanks....

On my 98 SLK the int light door switch is located just behind the striker plate.

As above The light switch is three position 1 left side manual stays on. 2 centre pos automatic. 3 right pos off.when the light switch is in pos 2 it comes on when the doors are opened and fades off after doors are closed or engine started but if the door is not closed properly it will stay on for aprox 5 min then switch its self off.
