We have a 1997 SLK with air con. The low coolant light appears on the dash board intermittently, though coolant level is fine. We've replaced the sensor and topped up the air con gas and the problem reduced but didn't disappear. The handbook seems to suggest that the light may also indicate fan problems on air conditioned cars. Can anyone suggest what might be the problem??

I cant answer your question directly but the sensor is a bouble part thing and I am Emailing the paper to you.

On some cars of the same age the coolant warning is linked to the washer system as well

Try forcing water into the header tank by pressing down the float, seen the light on when it is only slightly low.
