SLK (R171) and ipod

Hi all

I have just completed the purchase of a brand new SLK200K for my wife- great service and deal from Mercedes Oxford by the way. We opted for a number of options (Benotoite Blue metallic, alpaca grey leather, air scarf, 17" 10 spoke alloys, heated seats) but not COMAND (you've got to draw the line somewhere...) however it seems that an ipod input is only available if COMAND is fitted. Does anyone know of a way around this as £1900 for the COMAND and £300 for the ipod kit is a pretty expensive solution....

I've never heard of a tie up between Ipod kit and command. I understood that the ipod kit could be used with the Audio20 provided it has an aux input, which all new ones should have.

true for my W203 - dont know about R171 as she 'listens to the radio" - quaint

Apparantly it's true. The options manual is quite explicit and the salesman doubly checked with the technician

I was playing about with the DAS computer at the weekend with mine trying to find how to set the volume to increase with speed and I found an option to activate Ipod.

I use an I-Trip with mine, no wires or fitting, just tune in to the radio, cost around £20 of the web http://www.eoutlet.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=186

I understand that some sound quality is lost, but I drive an R170, with the road and wind noise when the hood is down, I can't tell the difference anyway!
