I have read in other threads (malcolm) that there is a modification to the PSE by turning it upside down using a modified wiring harness it eliminates the risk of damage to the PSE from water ingress. We have a SLK and up to now have no problems with the roof, however if this is worthwhile I would like to carry out this update.

Could someone tell me the location of the PSE (maybe a picture) and what the part number is for the wiring harness.

Is this a recommended MB update and is it easy to do - what does PSE stand for

You will find that eric has been posting there, sadly he has put up one or two good answers on Benzworld, but in the 170 section he put up the most stupid answer on ABS all totally wrong, when I said hello eric, the moderator removed erics response. I know that he is an engineer, abet not with electrics and any modern system with ECU's and the like

Very good account of how to modify the PSE - just one thing does anyone know a source for where I can purchase some 6mm nylon tube from?

The cheapest is a shop that sells fish tanks and tropical fish

Thanks for that. Can the wiring loom be sealed where the water enters?

I did say somewhere that I though that MB supplied an extension lead.

Do be careful on trying to seal something as it is important that water can dry and get out

Yes I can understand that it needs to dry out. I was not refering to where the water enters the unit via the lead but as to the source that it originally gets on to the lead from. Not delved into the SLK too much as yet with regard to home maintenance. I do like to try and fix things myself as having worked in the motor trade in the past, I try and avoid them!

Appreciate the advice

You would be amazed at how much water can come into an MB, most of it si down to poor stampings where burr's have not been removed
