i have a 12 year old SLK200 with a roof problem. It only goes back completly one in 10 attempts. The other 9 it all starts to work but gives up after the Windows go down and the back cover goes back. Clearly it does work but not all the time.. Any ideas of what may be the main issue ?

I had a similar problem with my R129 a few years back, it turned out to be dry joints. A good lube put it back into working order.

Thanks John. I will do that when weather improves. It is hammering it down now and car back in garage

Thanks- and assuming no convenience warnings?
Correct no warning lights at all. I will try Mikes response and grease up the joints. Appreciate the reply

The micro switches can also be an issue, but lube is cheap so I'd do that first then look further if that doesn't solve the problem.
