Hi Everyone

My roof will just not go down. I have done what previous threads advised, putting windows down then up and holding for 10 seconds etc. I did this several times using the window switches and the rrof switch. When i put the windows down with the window switch, they would go back up with the roof switch, however, when they are up, the roof switch will not move them back down. I have done it all so many times, could I be doing something wrong?
Many thanks

From what you are describing, I expect the switch flashes when you are trying to open the roof. The 2 most likely culprits are the micro switch operated by the boot roller blind (on the drivers side), or the micro switch in the boot lock. I would check these first, as a continuity check of each switch is fairly easy.

Hello Miss Kitty..Thats your problem..the boot, I had the exact same trouble with my SLK...the boot opening button (the bit you put your key in) needs lubricating, for a temporary solution open the boot and look at the inside of the boot lid...there is a black bar that runs from the lock to the boot catch, you can turn this easily by hand, and turn it back to the stop, now the boot will close as normal without slamming and you will find the roof will work.

As for the lock, it comes out easily, pop the back off and spray with silicone...job done.
Hope it works!!:D

Its a pleasure to help Malcolm, as uncle Benz said, there is a micro switch on the boot lock, and because the arm does not return fully it thinks the boot is open and stops the roof from working...hope that makes sense!!

Need help please. I reconditioned my roof hydraulic cylinder yesterday because the roof was dead. I had to open it manually to remove the headlinning to get to the part I wanted. Once I'd put everything back together I folded boot down manually but it seems the latches or hinges on each side of the trunk wont lock in now which means my roof wont work anyway. I need to know how to reset this fault as in the owners manual under working the roof manually it says once you do it the trunk will no longer lock and to see a MB dealer but someone must be clever here. Help wanted urgent because I want to see if my hydraulic recondition worked. Thanks in advance.
