I have a Mercedes SLK year 2010 and this is the front wings, both sides. I have tried to claim under the so called corrosion warranty but as I have not used Mercedes to service the vehicle they are refusing to assist. To replace both wings, Mercedes have quoted me upwards of £2000. Any ideas please?

Even if you had used MB to service it all its life they still wouldn't do anything.

I would be talking to a decent body shop about it. Mercedes don't actually do the work - they sub it out to third parties (adding their own mark-up) and the quality of work can be extremely variable depending where it's done.

By selecting your own repairer you have far more control over the quality of the work.

Oh! Thank you.I will make some enquiries that hopefully mean it won’t cost £2000!

I’ve moved your posts into a new thread for you.

I‘ve not seen a rusty 2010 SLK before, where are you based? Has it spent its life by the sea?

As a rough guide my body shop costs £400 per panel to paint. Panels are reasonably cheap (use genuine if you can as they fit properly) so say £500 for panels plus a couple of hundred for labour. You should get away under £1500 though that depends on panel cost.

If panels are salvageable it should be even less.

Ahhh wire worm, one bit of advice, dont bother with a repair, it will be back in a couple of years.

Good thing is that it is the front wings (bolt on and off). Get a genuine MB set, dont be fooled by cheap prices for after market - you will get tin foil and fitment issues. Get original and ask for discount.

Also look at rust free cars being broken (ebay) amd make sure they are rust free. Could be way cheaper but some ebayers are charging silly money.

Find a good bodyshop and bobs your uncle, you know the weakpoint on them now so when all painted - make
sure the body shop puts some extra protectant back there.

My daughter has an SLK registered last day 2009 and has exactly the same issue - it’s also Iridium Silver by the looks of your photos. I’ve not seen it on any other colour of SLK. Based on that I wonder if it’s an issue with that paint.

Nothing to do with servicing, the 30 year corrosion warranty covers rust starting behind the panels and eating it's way out. Yours are rusty on the outside.
If they mentioned the lack of Mercedes servicing, I presume they meant that as a reason not to offer any goodwill towards the repair.

As stated before, my CLK had the same and was repaired twice, it always came back eventually after a couple of years.
