SLK Servicing - Stockport Area? - Looking for independent de

Can anyone tell me the servicing costs and interval times for my SLK 320? Should I use a main dealer (Dobman Reed) or find an independant dealer, if I went the latter would my car be serviced properly and keep its proper value?

If it's convenient to get the car a few miles south to Macclesfield, try SPR Autos (Steve Richardson) on 01625 511361. He is an independent Merc specialist who does all my servicing and any repairs that I'm not competent to do myself (i.e. most of them). I've always been very happy with his work, and it's much cheaper than an MB stealership.

As it's obviously a nearly new car I'd go to an authorised dealer for servicing. If you don't you'll lose your guarantee (3 years on UK car, 1 year on import) and the 30 year bodywork warranty. You may not worry about this but when you come to sell it you'll find the buyer will. You can look up the dealers on the web-site (mercedes-benz.co.uk).

Also if you shop around you'll find you can get a decent price. My SLK320 went in for its first "A" service a few months ago and it cost £84. (I provided my own oil. Normal price was £120, but you'll find big variations). Bear in mind that there isn't much work to be done in servicing these cars so it shouldn't cost much.

The intervals are indicated by the ASSYST readout on the speedo. It's basically every 10k.
