And to add a little more to the title......Is there any more leg room in a R172 SLK than the R171?
I am finding the driving and seating position a little uncomfortable in the Wifes 171 on a journey if we go in her car for anything over a couple of hours driving. The R170 gave me the same issues, so bought the R171, now finding this giving me jip too :(

Yes definitely.

Coming out of a 200 series Landcruiser where I was used to masses of room, I tried a R171 and it was way too small for me.

A salesman came up as I was walking away from it and after establishing why I was not interested, got a R172 out of their storeroom. Much more space.

I ended up buying and driving it (SLK350 R172) as a daily driver for nearly 4 years. I'm 6'2' and 100kg.

It was a funny day because I went to the dealer to look at a shooting brake, tried the 171 on a whim and ended up with a 172 which eventually resulted in my current ride.

Passenger side is not as roomy as the drivers in the R171. Put the seat all the way down and there’s plenty of space and I find it very comfortable indeed for my multi-hour journeys

I always found it odd that i was actually comfy in my 170 , im 6'1 but im quite slim and this tends to cause circulation issues when im not comfy on long journeys

I believe that the size of the driver is relevant to this question......

The passenger side of the 171 was very comfortable for my wife but, she is a slim 5'4".

Great parking space. :)

When I first spotted it one morning there was another car in it. We went into a daily challenge of getting there before the other (they were not allocated). Took about a week a half and it was all mine - I arrived at about 6am. I've always been an early starter and we worked flexi hours so at about 3pm I was headed home & no traffic in either direction.:)

I do something similar Rory,
arrive early at work, and get a brilliant parking space, might be a bit daft, but so what. :D

Mate of mine works for Kent Highways and when he has to hit the office he gets in by 6am so he can get work done before the chattering brigade (female) arrive, which is when he heads out for site visits. It also means he finishes work by no later than 3pm as he's only allowed to do so many hours per day.

I've always been an early starter (boarding school & the army may have helped). As a young man, it impressed my bosses and helped my slow crawl upwards. As a manager I always had a big head start on my team and others on the project. Lots of quiet time to go through what the day was to bring and ready for everything. It was probably only the last 10 years of working where I had the flexibility to leave early but I've always been the one to turn the lights on in the morning.
