Two months ago, I bought my wife a 2001 SLK from a local dealership.

Since then it has been back to the dealership three times as the window seals are leaking.

They have replaced the seals, but we still get water in the car, so it has just gone back in again.

The Service Manager has told my wife that there will always be leaks on this type of car.

Would anybody on this forum be able to help? Do the window seals regularly leak? Is there anything we can do to try to prevent the leaks?

Hopefully he actually said "prone" to leaks, because the window has no frame then it is harder to seal.

We have an SLK and the only time it leaks is if I get carried away with the pressure washer, in normal use it is water tight. My old SL only ever leaks if I put it thorugh the car wash (sorry but I am sometimes that lazy).

I would push them for a fix and ask MB for assistance if neccessary.

Mark.

Water Leaks

Hi.
Check the window stops have not fallen off !.
Open the door with the window down then close the window, check the travel and make sure the window lines up with the rubber on the front triangular edge of the door (I am refering to the drivers door)If the window glass protrudes above the rubber the window stops could have fell off (they are only glued to the glass) next close the door and see if the glass seals against the rubber at the handle end. If there is a gap the stops have come off allowing the window to travel too far which lets it sit on the rubber instead of under it (top edge)
To repair.Remove door card and glue the stops back on these are located on the bottom front edge of the window.Halfords sell a metal to glass ultra Violet activated glue so needs to be done on a nice sunny day.
