Also it has X pipes and a "remap" which would put me off. Basically someone has fiddled with the engine and made it noisier.

Mine is plenty loud enough as standard. The stock SL55 also sounded lovely. X pipe mod is a lottery - can end up with an unpleasant drone and hard to sell.

If it has a CAT marker it would put me off unless I can see exactly what it was for and exactly how it has been repaired. I’m not a fan of exhaust mods. They sound just right to me completely stock. There is room for improvement in the suspension department though if you ask me. KW had a hand in what made the black series cars so special, and their KW V3 kit transforms the handling of the little SLK. Yes, I have that kit on my very own car.

You can get a salvage check for £8.99 including pics pre-repair so the extent of the damage can be seen. Some like www.checkcardetails.co.uk does it..

I know there are/were plenty of damaged repaired cars out there, some damaged and repaired before they were even sold new, what the eye/hand never knew/know
