Sluggish, Erratic Kick-down (early R129)

Hi all, I wonder if anyone has any knowledge of the Kick down on the early (1990) R129 4 speed box. THe Kick down is sluggish when kicking down from 2nd to 1st on moving off quickly, and sometimes doesn't happen at all when you'd expect it - say 4th to 3rd at 40 mph. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this?

A crack on one of the tracks on the Printed circuit board of the fuel pump relay could do this. It effects all MBs
