Hi All,

Forgive me if this is a silly question, but I’m wanting to get a more comfortable ride from my A207, and I figure a smaller alloy + a higher profile tyre would do the trick…
Current tyre sizes are:
FRONT- 235/35zr19 91y
REAR- 255/30zr19 91y
Can anyone make any suggestions as to what size I can go for to optimise ride comfort?
Many Thanks!

Looking at your picture in your other thread I can see why you want to change wheels.
The manual should have listings of wheels and tyre combinations that MB have fitted or have available. They generally specify smaller ones for winters but there’s nothing stopping you fitting summers or all seasons to them.
You could also put your car details into the “my tyres” website and pick the wheels and tyres option to see what is available

16” would be better still. But typically 18” wheels are accepted as the best compromise between ride comfort and performance handling.

I have 18s for summer, and 17s for winter on my E class. I can't tell any difference in comfort between the two, but others who have then gone between 18 to 19 report a big difference.

My CL500 has 18s and the S500 has 19s. The S500 is noticeably comfier. Our R320 has 20s and is softer still. Go figure!

Lot of improvements and modifications were made on the new cars suspension so you get comfort and stability with larger wheels .

I’m saying it partly tongue in cheek as the two bigger cats have very soft damping rates, and the 251 has 50% profile tyres…

Thanks for all the replies. Think an 18in alloy is the way to go, even though it’s only 5/10mm more rubber I get the feeling it could make all the difference

Some I know and I have done in the past, ran higher profile tyres on my 19 inch. On my w213 saloon I had 245/45/19 and 275/40/19

I have the standard 18" on my E350CDI & my wife's SLC250d. We also have 17" winter wheels for both cars, which I prefer.
I had 16" winter wheels on my previous CLK, but the large front callipers stop fitment on most modern MB's.

The brand of tyre can also make a difference to comfort as some have softer / different shaped sidewalls, I would put Uniroyal RS5 on it.

I take it you don't have Run Flats on the 19" wheels??

Yes, unsprung weight is not talked about much with regards to cars. More so with motorbikes / snowmobiles.
