The title says it all really - my dealer had a new flyer for SmartWater.  As I've had a motorbike nicked for parts in the past, is it worth the £100 + VAT for this process to be done on an A Class?

Do the criminal fraternity nick A Classes for parts or 'export'?  (I can't see a teenager joy riding in an A Class)

Or would my money be better spent on a Tracker or even SupaGlass (much more than £100)

Or am I just paranoid?

Why not ask your insurance company if they'll give you a discount on any of these?
Tracker is the one most insurance companies recognise, I think, because there's a chance of recovering the car quickly.
Marker devices may be fine for proving someone's got your bonnet, but you no longer have your car.
I'd go with Tracker, alone, personally.

For some reason the post above didn't register on the board  front page.

Maybe you need to ask a Cop what they'd fit?!

Having worked at a ford dealership for too many years
I have repared many cars that were stolen and bits taken , usualy cosworths in my day , Ford acualy tried a simular scheme as the indenti chip (a small chip was placed on every magor component) , Due to the amount of cars in the uk It proved impossible to check every .. car with a cosworth bonnet (for example) ..... It may be better now but I never saw any benifit to the owners of the cars ....

It is worth noting that every car we got back for repair was recovered because it had a tracker fitted (alot of insurance companys still insist on one if your unlucky enough to own a FORD cosworth)

So I opinion is get a decent Cat1 alarm/immobilser (if one isn't factory fitted) and if you're realy parranoid buy a tracker......

Has to be said though the Stop Lock Pro's (things that go through the steering wheel) work realy well  , and the Pro version is insurance/thatcham approved.........
