I own a 2003 500SL and recently I have noticed a sweaty smell in the car. I have not spilt anything to my knowledge. Have any forum members experienced anything similar or does anyone have ideas what it may be (I shower every day so it's not me)

Its driving me mad and If I can't find the cause I will have to sell the car

Please help!

Sulphur like smell from the Cat, exhaust?
On my Integra (Sadly missed) I used to get the bad eggs smell every now and then. (No egg sandwiches involved) It wasn't there all the time though.

One other thing my friend had a smelly problem with his heater A/C. Turned out he had lots of dampness inside after the car had been left standing, mould and mildew inside the A/C.

I am experiencing alot of condensation in the interior of the car when it has been stood all day at work and I recently had some work done on the aircon as it was leaking and had been inop for a while

You may have solved my problem my friend

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
My SL500 only smells of leather and of who is in the car, As Barry says this must be comming from the heater air con.

Take off the vent grill under the bonnet passenger side and check the it is dry and no mould.. Is the any dampness on the passenger carpet.

You can get cleaner that you spray into the heater intake that will remove any bad odour, best bought from a Air con specialist.

The car has not been laid up at all, but my garage is being rebuilt and the car has been left outside for a number of months

I have heard of this model having problems with the seals and water ingres into the footwells and boot but I cannot see any evidence of this

Lost on the A303 :o)
I think you're supposed to run the aircon for at least 10 minutes a week to keep things ticking over nicely or you end up with a mouldy smell...

As above I would try some aircon cleaner if all the carpets etc are dry.
I have bought some made by Forte from ebay, I rate all their stuff.
Not had a chance to use it yet, no big problem smell wise on my car but at 5 years old it will probably do it good.

Where would I find this on ebay, can you let me know where you purchased the cleaner from?
