Thanks to all the folks that posted help

After more investigation, I don't think its the heater/air con problem

After removing the spare wheel I have found water sitting in the bottom of the recess

Has any other SL500 owner had this problem and if so what caused it

My SL500 is a 2003 reg

Cheers

Thanks for that info Malcolm, it seems its a common problem then and my smell in the cabin may be damp carpets

I am thinking of changing my car anyway, whilst I have really enjoyed my SL500 things like this really wind me up especially after reading the previous thread and MB should have done a recall for this sort of problem

Before I decide on the future of my SL can you tell me if there are any other common problems that I should be aware off

Cheers

There are no other problem with the SL. Do bare in mind that Mountfuji jot a rotten deal and a rip off dealer to do the work.

There as some very good indies out there that do not cheat, even normal service items like brake pads and disc can be changed by anyone,I do my own.

Mountfujis thread sent a shiver through me,there are other ways of going about things, If I were you I would enjoy the car as you cant buy anything else remotly like it. If you get stuck on something,we are here to help.

I am thinking of putting some drains in the boot just in case,I will keep you posted.

Let me know how the drains go

I am now certain that the smell is now emenating from wet carpets, both of which are in the far reaches under the boot cover that the roof folds into to, they are soaked and when you wipe your hand over it, the smell is the same as in the cabin

Any idea which seals may be the problem or do I have to change all the seals

Cheers

The main thing to keep the water away from is the PSE pump on the left,as from 08 02 they reversed the PSE pump so thats on top of the roof pump.

Its the PSE pump that must not get water near it, it is in the foam rubber box.

Only by checking off Mountfuji list of rubbers and this site can you tell what ones they were.

Is all of the damp under the rear window.

The pump is in the foam is all OK at the moment and I think I have found the leaks just in time

The damp is in the far corners on each side of the rear window, if you can imagine reaching into the far corners to touch the back of the seats if you could
