Smoke from engine

Can someone please tell me what is the part marked yellow circle in the attached picture, I have smoke coming out from around it which then enters inside the car. Its a 2004 C230 Kompressor. Just curious to know what the part if before I take to the workshop. Thanks in advance.

Looks a bit like oil filter housing. Put a socket on, it and see if, without force you can turn it clockwise. If so it's possible that the o ring seal is leaking and oil is dropping on heat source causing smoke.
Anyway get it checked out. If ti's oil filter housing you DONT want that spinning free.!

It is the oil filter housing, if you have had a oil and filter change recently there may be a badly refitted O ring and oil is leaking onto the exhaust. Don't ask how I know

Yes as above, do check this as it can be a large leak, very quickly.

To undo the top of the oil filter housing, check the O-ring and tighten it back up?

Absolutely nothing… DIY…
