Pulling into a parking spot today and some chappie reversed out of a spot 2 cars up and caught me right on the driver's side door, watched in horror as it happened, very upset, said he couldn't here me beeping at him and he was watching his side mirrors to avoid being side swiped, didn't look in his rearview.

Very depressed, but only minorish damage to the bottom of the door, no damage to his focus.

I hate insurance companies, takes so long to pay out. When I had my Clio and someone reversed into it twice, the car was sat outside my house with no window (she'd managed to smash that in too on the 2nd hit) waiting for weeks to be "analysed". I wrote a letter of complaint because the claim was going through so slowly, and got £50 compensation for the trouble they caused plus my money.

The car didn't get fixed, I lost interest in it. It had one dark green door and the rest were light silver green. :(

Still as least you got his details and he didn't drive off. I bet a lot of people would if they could get away with it..

..

Never had that problem with insurance. Direct Line, What Car and Liverpool Victoria all let you go straight to a garage to be fixed. They send a guy to assess very swiftly. Clearly worth asking about when choosing insurance. Maddening to have an unnecessary delay on top of the stress of damage to your car.

insurances are slow to pay out when u claim on there policy. its quicker u claim on yours and then your company claims money back from them... i knw it hurts when stuff like this happens...

but the worst one i have seen was white VAN driver was reversing out a drive way on a busy major road. he hit a parked car twice while the person was in the car. she got out and was very annoyed. the van driver was like okay let me park up. while parking up he reversed in the car twice again. no joke. i just couldnt believe what i was seeing.

A few years back, with a previous Merc, I had pulled into a layby behind an artic and was having a cup of coffee when the artic started to reverse. I pushed the horn without effect, had to put the ignition on to get any response by which time he had pushed in the grille. Opening my door got his attention as he couldn't see me otherwise.
The insurance sent me to the dealership who replaced the grille and bumper as they said it was scratched and checked all behind to see if it had bent. All sorted nicely within a day and the service manager loaned me his own car for the day as all the service loan cars were out.
