Keep an old Fiat Panda 4x4 for snowy conditions.
Dirt cheap to tax, insure and run, and probably costs less if it gets written off than the premium increase if you make a claim on your MB.

Yes ESP off is usually better in snow as otherwise the engine is always being killed by the ECU. One of the problems with MBs in snow is lack of weight over rear wheels.

.... do you mean that you've never driven a RWD car in snow before .....

Your E Class will be as good/bad as any other RWD auto with all season tyres ;)

I took my V6 SLK out for a run this morning in the snow and slush, no issues at all and no yellow "idiot light" (unless I was playing...)

As per above, winter tyres make a significant difference to how Mercedes drive when conditions are poor. I've had a set of winter wheels and tyres for my last 4 cars

2 years ago the only car to use in the heavy snow of Glasgow was........SL55 AMG......Superb

DSC02754 (Small).JPG

Only got really stuck once, but with 4 blokes managed the slight slope, after that the only way was to turn ESP off and plant it :D Would I use it again in the snow, oh yes unless I want to be a boring old........

.... and you can only drive as far/fast as the car in front. ;)
That’s why it took me an hour to do a half hour journey this morning. I knew it would so set off with time to spare and arrived early.
