Yeah I know it's not easy at the best of times but an R class looks to be a whole different level of impossible...

Just changing the engine air filters is a 3 hour job. 4 with the size of your mitts! I wouldn’t like to think of the oil cooler seals. The engine bay is really, really cramped in this car.

I failed at the first hurdle on my R class when I wanted the wiper's scuttle tray out of the way when I was considering replacing its turbo!

I wouldn't go that far ... though it's easy to break the housing where the captive bolts screw in .... apparently!

You’ve not seen his hands, they’re like bunches of bananas ;)

I must admit I really, really struggled with those stupid hidden air filters. On the 211, doddle. This car seems determined to be a pig to work on. Except the cabin air filter, that’s easily accessible.

An old B-Class.
Easy. Pay someone to do it!

Always reminds me of my favourite neighbour : “I have so much money I cannot spend it”. Last week he was complaining about fainting spells yet, today was on a 20’ ladder painting the flashings on his house. “why pay someone when you can do it yerself...??"

The R350CDI is a pig of an engine to work on.

Replacing the actuator took me a good few hours last year and the PCV vent was a pig too.

Tight, difficult to get at and requring you to be flexible to get at anything.

With the engine being high up things are hard to reach and you need to be long like a giraffe which makes
working on the car not so straightfrord.

If and when the seals go on mine, it is for my indy.

When I replaced the actuator on my R320 I dropped my 1/4" extension and then dropped my magnet on a stick trying to retrieve it

I can imagine. I was like an octopus getting the actuator off, magnet at the ready and hands swamped round the back when taking the circlip off. The circlip was the defining moment - but it didnt fly off into the abyss. It pinged right into my hand Thank god.
