Hi,
After a number of months of busy work commitments and looking for a suitable company to test my Soft top control module, I today sent off my module to BBA Reman of Rochester. My vehicle was diagnosed on a Star code reader with a faulty module by German Auto Care of Leeds.
My question(s) for anybody who might be able to help are:
1) is it possible to somehow raise the windows fully with this ECU removed (at present they remain 2.5 centimeters from the top once the ECU is removed).
2) While the bulk head is not in place I can check the oil level. What is the correct oil level for the hydraulics?, it is in the lower part of the reservoir and not at the half way mark, is this correct with the roof in the closed position?

Regards, Cliff.

It does not say, but I would have thought the upper mark.

fluid is MB 343.0 hydraulic oil 000 989 91 03

To bleed the system just open and close the roof 4 times with the engine running.

You cannot close the windows without the risk of damage to the door controllers

Once again thanks for your help, its always appreciated. Hopefully the module should be back with me early next week, so I will just have to put up with the windows for the time being. I should know by then if the repaired module has solved the problem.
I was given some Mercedes hydraulic roof oil by the previous owner, so I'll try filling it to the central mark, it's going to take a very small funnel the hole in the top is very small.
Once again thanks for the advice and help.

I would have thought that if the previous owner gave you some fluid there is a leak somewhere.

As a suggestion, when I had the roof hydraulics repaired and oil topped up, we did it by using a large syringe with a bit of tubing on the end of it so that it fitted into the hole on the top of the reservoir. We filled it to the top, bled the system and then topped up again. Might be helpful.

Thanks for the suggestion about filling and bleeding the system hydraulics. The reason the previous owners gave me some hydraulic fluid was because he had a new pump fitted by the main dealer just over twelve month ago, but thanks for the thought.

Hi,
Got the reply back from BBA Reman over the condition of my soft top control module and have been told it was faulty and has now been repaired. The unit now has a life time guarantee, so hopefully by the weekend the module should be fitted and the roof back into action.

Has anybody ever refitted a soft top control module before? I guess they are plug and play system, but is there any procedures I should follow except the bleeding of the of the hydraulics as Television kindly suggested. Thanks:)
