I have a 1981 380 SLC that I wish to convert to a soft-top.   Has anyone got any experience of such a conversion, or any ideas as to where I might get one done.

Soft Top Conversions

Sorry to be negative but you might be better looking for a soft-top car.  The main problem, as I am sure you know, is getting rigidity into the structure once the roof is off.  
A woman, I once knew, axed the top off her boy friends super dooper sporty Peugeot when he displeased her but I think she no longer offers this quick conversion service.
