Soft-top MB waterproofing kit

I saw a post elsewhere where television recommended this for an R129 SL.

What does the kit consist of, how is it applied and how frequently should it be applied?

I'm eagerly awaiting spring so it would make sense to get a kit in readiness for the panoramic to be hoisted up to the garage roof again!

You buy the kit from MB about £23 enough to water proof and clean the top twice. enough for 1 year on each application or more

The plastic polish made by "Mothers" will restore the windows to near new with ease and remove the yellow look. best to get a midget to do the inside of the rear one, though you can just get to it all

Polishing the inside of the rear window is easier if you half raise the hood. You can then work from outside the car.

I have done mine a couple of times that way without any ill effects on the car or me.

There are a number of cleaning/proofing products on the market. I have used the Autoglym kit and it seems OK. The MB kit has a good press, as does Renovo. Whichever you choose I recommend that you follow the instructions. It is also a good idea to mask off the areas close to the hood before applying the proofer as it can be difficult to get off glass and paint once it has dried.

Last year I decided to deep clean and restore the colour to my wife's CLK cabrio, which has a deep blue roof, but didn't look very blue. I bought a product called Renovo which specialises in convertible roofs, anyway, the results were truly spectacular, full colour was restored and a waterproofing applied at the same time - excellent! if interested go to e-bay and search for Renovo.

I think that it is that firm that make it for MB with a black or colour top they do work wonders.

I remember as hairyg said now the lowering the top a touch does make it easier to clean inside
