Hello all,

can any of the COMAND/phone experts tell me what I need in order to fit the factory phone kit to my car? It is a 2003 facelift S Class with the widescreen DX COMAND unit.

The following 3 lots of wires were tucked away behind the radio (found them over the weekend after fitting the multimedia adapter to make TV come onto the screen (Thanks for the pointer Malcolm!!)

There is a small 2 pin connector with green wires, an antenna cable (which I have belled out to the back of the car where it attaches to the connector wthat goes to the roof arial. My guess is that it is the antenna cable!!

The final one is a large C2 connector with quite a few cables in it ( 3 or 4 of which go up to the rear view mirror (where I know I need the microphone part to the mirror base!)

The one thing I can see as a problem with the C2 connector is that it has cables in the same pin locations as the one that is in the radio at the moment (When adding the media adapter I just took the pins out of the connector they supplied and added them to the one in the car already)

I really would like to add the phone kit to my car and be able also to add bluetooth so I can use my iPhone. Help!!

I thought the hands free phone kit was standard with comand on the S class. Do you not have a phone cradle in the central arm rest?

You need an amp like in the picture circa £285 and the cradle

Malcolm,

I have anp amp like that one (out of the 2002 car I broke and works with the 6210 handset etc.) but where does the rest of the loom from the C2 connector go to? and what is the two green wire loom for? It isn't the same as the 2002 pre-facelift loom I have and in typical main dealer fashion; MB don't know what my car needs to make the sysyem work.

I was wondering why the two wire green loom was behind the radio as there doesn't seem to be anywhere on the radio head unit for it to plug in.

I have had the centre console out and there doesn't seem to be any wiring under there either.

Anyone have any more ideas?
Thanks

Baz

I have the choice of a few,,the VIN 220 ??? next 3, and I will pass on this tonight and do tomorrow.

There are a few different versions and I assume that yours is just pre wired, and you are putting in a C tel phone

A good idea would be to PM me with your Email address so that I can get your complete VIN number, I can then find the codes on the options fitted to the car.

I will clear a few PM's as its full, but it fills up quickly, or PM me with the complete VIN,,I will need the Email address anyway

I imagine that the split box is the one inside the right side of the boot. "Retractable" aerial seems odd, not one of them on the car.

As for the exploded dagrams, they don't make an awful lot of sense to me to be honest! Not as easy to follow as the ford diagrams!

Thanks so far though Malcolm.... I'm sure we will get there in the end!

I was hoping for some other codes, but even if I have to print out every reto fit we will know.

The thing that got me was the twin lead plug for the can or wake up. I have a box near my phone amp that uses those connectors.

Is that build date above correct for your car

According to the V5 (I have in front of me) the date of first registration was 17 07 2003 so I guess the build date fits?

That means that the TV is later than mine, so you must have RCA jacks, you will have to take a peep when the weather gets better.

I can now work with your vin and will see in the morning

All the best for now, (Phones are not my line, my eldest son asked me last week if I had found the make a call button on mine))

It doesn't have TV Malcolm, I fitted a TV box thingy from Germany as you suggested a while back as the analogue tuner I have is off a 2002 car and won't fit!..... It doesn't even have a bloomin CD Changer....yet!

Sorry I muddled the car with another 220 with a Ipod problem, thats why it did not show up on the VIN.

Too many post and too little time

Well funny you should mention the IPOD!! I ultimately want to be able to use my IPhone in the car with all the displays and controls etc.

That is the aim anyway... although it does seem it may be easier to buy a different S Class at times!

Just for info.

Mine is the car with the DX nav unit and I have fitted the D2B fibre ring but still can't get the CD changer working!
