Hi folks,

Is there a good independent garage in South Wales (Swansea) for servicing my SL 320 (1994)? It's only got 45k on the clock and has a full MB service history so far - maybe I should keep the MB servicing going - what's the opinion here?

The hardtop has got some bubbling on the bottom edge (next to the rear window rubber seal) - is it difficult to sort out - are there any specialists that could look at this for me? - or do i rub back the body work, alochrome the aluminium, epoxy fill and find a good body shop to spray for me?

cheers,

AJ

Hi, and Welcome,

I haven't used Stuttgart Garage, however they have been recommended previously. http://www.stuttgartgarage.co.uk/

Since your car is now 12 years old, you are more likely to find MB trained mechanics with the right experience at an Indie than at a MB Dealer

father in law used them once, car came back with a broken plastic cover (between the rad and grill) and the bit that was broken off was just thrown behind the grill and left to rattle. To be fair, he did not know if the cover was broken/split before it went in but to leave it in plain sight?
I know of people that have used them and had no problems though, luck or just one of those things?
If anyone has used them, please post as I will be looking soon, for a reliable indi myself in s/wales.

So now I'm a bit confused (as normal)

does the 94 320 have a steel roof or an aluminium one?

would I be regarded as a total car tart if I scrapped the original hard top and put on a panoramic roof from a later model???

Don't hold back --- I can take the flack!!!!!

cheers,

Many people change the aluminium hardtop for the glass one, also aluminium panels, and can corrode around the edges, They make the car very nice in the winter. The glass hardtop was the one thing that I wanted on mine, so why not, with only 45k on the clock you will get your money back if ever you sell it.

Hi folks,

Thanks for all the feed back - now all I've got to do is look for a suitable dark blue panoramic roof - I found an old thread that said that a good panoramic may set me back about a grand and I'd never get it back if I sold - but you never know I might get one on ebay for 50 quid  !!!

I've just spent an hour on the body work with Quixx scratch repair - I never thought it would work but to be honest I'm quite impressed with the results - next step an autoglym resin polish and the SL will be ready for the weekend - unfortunately it's going to rain and my wife now thinks (knows) that I'm a sad case.:D

cheers,

Newboy
