Spare cable in C-plug, rear of radio?

The MB radio (APS 30) in my 1997 W210 had a single brown cable in the DIN plug in the C-slot in the rear of the radio. Recently I added a CD changer, which requires a power supply from the C-slot, so I unplugged the plug with the single brown cable, inserted the plug for the CD changer, and it works
However, I can't believe the accountants would allow an unused cable to be installed, and recently I've had problems with the CD in the APS mis-reading on start-up. Does this brown cable perhaps delay powering-up the radio until the battery voltage has stabilised??
