Hi All,

After locking my keys in the boot a while ago I would like a spare blade key to give the wife to keep.
Any advice on how to get one done?

Thanks

If all you need is a spare emergency blade try Timpsons

You can get one from your local dealer or much cheaper if you go to a local key cutting place. If they don't have the blanks you can buy them from the likes of Ebay for a few £.

IIRC this has been asked here before & Mercedes want a stupid amount of money for just the blade .....

a price justified by many in the name of security o_O

A proper locksmith shop will cut one.

I'm surprised Timpsons didn't cut it. They sell the Mercedes blanks at my local Timpsons

Show them the key, don't say it's from a Merc.

When I bought my car, it came with just one key. I stupidly went to Mercedes and they charged me over £100 for a second key. They also required me to present my passport, driving license and a current utility bill at the time of ordering. I then had to collect in person, with all the documents again, a few days later. I asked if my wife could collect the key. Certainly not. For all they know, I might be in the middle of a divorce and the wife gets the key, thus the car.
Ludicrous level of security and exorbitant cost. I'm so glad I found the forum soon after and started getting useful advice.

I asked at a small local locksmiths and they had some blanks or could get them.
