Spare key

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a 2014 E350 BlueTec AMG coupe. Unfortunately it only came with one key. I have spoken to all the independants who supply keys and they all said that they do not have software to programme the key, it is Main dealer only. So far the key has cost me £246 and on Friday they will programme the key for 30mins labour cost. When I enquired how much that would be, I was told it was £81........FFS. I live in Suffolk not central London. An hourly rate of over £160 is disgraceful.
Am I completely out of touch, or is that 'kin expensive?

Where did you get the key, seperate then programmed at MB, or MB directly.

AFAIK, thes keys come pregrammed from Germany.... but someone correct me

Pretty sure the key needs coding to the car (or car to key) where ever the key comes from. MB replaced a faulty key of my car not long after I'd bought the car and they wanted the car & the other key.

ReplacementMercedesKeys in Birmingham do a sterling job...

The MB dealer charges so much...

...because you're a captive customer - and they can.

And they don't even need a licence to print that money.

Got it in one
