The 2007 SLK I bought does not have the spare. It is supposed to be in the well at the very back, next to the rear bumper, correct? I see ones on eBay with a 17 inch rim. (USA). That is the correct size for a car with 16 inch wheels? Because the spare is thinner than a real tire. This is what I need? https://www.ebay.com/itm/125213895565?hash=item1d27546b8d:g:PXAAAOSwr99iN9eP

Do you need the MB jack or can you use a standard scissors jack?

I assume any air compressor will work. The donut spare must be inflated when you need to use it?

You should have a run flat as a spare standard 16" wheels do not fit.
Its a lot of cash for a jack & wheel brace, particularly if you have them.

If you have 16" wheels that looks correct for a car with 17" wheels (the optional extras) rather than the standard 16". Be aware that it's limited to 50mph and with the crap compressor supplied by MB it takes forever to inflate to 40psi (as I discovered the hard way) and as the only "cigarette lighter" type source on the SLK (at least on my early facelift 2008 SLK280) is in the passenger footwwell, you have to have the engine running for the power point to be live. We waited ages and ages, the tyre only popped onto one side of the rim and within a couple of hours (by which time we'd thankfully reached home) it was flat. If I'm going away for any distance/length of time these days I put my cordless tyre inflator, fully charged, in the boot in case I need to use the packaway spare again!

In my case the rear NS wheel had come off, the standard MB jack (which should be in the tool kit in the boot) was a PITA, a passing stranger managed to use it under the rear suspension to get the car high enough to lower the car onto the recovered wheel (under the NS of the car) so he could then use the MB jack in its proper jacking point and lift the car enough to get the packaway spare on.
