Spare Wheel C220 CDI

Does anyone know what the spare wheel for a 2002 C220 should be? Is it an alloy or a steel wheel? will it be the same size rim as the main alloys?

I expect it will be a steel wheel and could also be a space saver. A C-class owner should with luck be along shortly o let you know what is in their boot

Hi Bob,

My 2002 270cdi has alloys and a steel spare, same tyre size as the alloys. If you use the steel wheel, you must use the 5 shorter wheel bolts that come in the tool kit. If you use the longer bolts that the alloys use, they go too far into the hub and damage the brakes. Rather bad design I think. If you are changing a wheel in the rain, with a car load of noisy kids/grumpy wife, its easy to get it wrong, with dire results.

That is one thing they appear to have fixed on My W211 it is the same wheel bolts for the alloys and the space saver spare.

Must agree, My 2004 C 220 CDI has a full size steel spare and the same studs are used. Also my mates 2002 C 220 is the same.

My SL has a alloy mini spare Blow up type using the same bolts
