Hello everyone.
I was looking trough the forum for this and i found it, but the link to "how to" materials is out of date.
Could you please help? Its my second Merc - i had W einhundert vier und zwanzig before, but now it's this V6 which i'm new to.
Please help, i hate when a merc engine is not running as smooth as whipped cream.
THX

groo-bee Welcome to the forum .Well i would take you phone or camera and take pictures of the ht locations . Picture each lead and to where it goes. Then do one lead at a time uesing the same length as lead as the one you removed .

Whats is the engine type ?
M112.

The only thing to beware of is making sure each plug lead goes back where it came from. Do one at a time.

You may need the lead removal tool. You can use a bent 17mm spanner. It will be clear when you look.

Are the plugs in the sump ,,,with engine out to check them
Not far off ..... ;)
Three cylinders .... 6 plugs. 3 are easy. The other 3 require the back end panels to be removed to access them ..... and if a Brabus, the side skirts need removing too to allow removal of the panels

And even then one of the three difficult ones will cause a LOT of swearing....

ED I read some place that engine will need removing to replace a simple wear item on the smart ..
that's probably an exaggeration .. ;) though access isn't especially great

Agreed. I can't think of any wear item that needs engine removing (thermostat is close though!)

Waterpump is a pita, starter motor worse, alternator not great either. Timing chain can be done by lowering the subframe but most use the opportunity to do a full rebuild.

The moral being use genuine parts for anything that's hard to get to!
At least a genuine thermostat isn't too expensive. The ECU controlled motorised valve that Citroen fitted to EmilysMum's C3 was about £170 (just to buy) 6 years ago

there are respective markings on the block and the coil packs. "a" lead to the front of vehicle, "b" to th back :)
