Fill it all in and it will tell you what's due.

Plugs can last 60000 miles.
Why do you want to change them..?
Wasn’t sure if they needed changing. Cars due for a service and because everything is computerized now didn’t know what service it needed. Also found out that apparently changing plugs on my car are a massive job.

This is where I get concerned with over servicing the BMW spark plug replacement regime is 2 year intervals so in my case every 5K miles which is ridiculous as the plugs should go 50k miles without issue. I get it that they shouldn’t be left 20 years so will get them done way before that

Whilst not your specific car car, any car Ive had (petrol), they are changed needed or not every 10,000 miles (along with all filters) to ensure ‘optimum’ performance. Oils every 5k along with a two finger salute to dealer service intervals. Cars have ran spot with some easily breaking 200k without any performance or efficiency issues despite prolonged high speed use.

If it’s due a device just throw a set of plugs in! They are not expensive and prevents any minor running issues associated with ageing/faulty plugs.

While I kind of agree with you .... 10k for a set of plugs is way overkill. Years ago plugs were easily accessible .... today they're often not, which is why they're designed to last longer.

Even Smart Roadster spark plugs are every 18k miles and they're very hard on them.

Agreed access is not always what it was, even on smaller engined stuff, but for me a routine basic service always stands at the very least as all filters, oil, plugs on petrol engines. Agreed that 10k can be considered overkill but that’s just me. For me it’s always been nice to see the condition of the plugs, giving insight into running health and early detection of anything unusual. My main gripe with recommended intervals is that there are external factors to plug life and performance that aren’t taken into consideration, fooling the general public to think that x miles is norm just by a service interval declaration is wrong.

Thanks for all the answers. Although mines only three years old and 38000 on the clock I’m going to give it another year for plugs and get more info on doing them. From what I’ve seen so far it looks bad. Front off a as and half the engine, not good.

knowledge is power.
Once you know how it will be easy as pii.
If the"mechanics" in the dealership can do it, so can you.
