anyone upgraded the door speakers on a c180 w202. i have purchased a very good sony unit but it makes the speakers fart. i dont want my boot filled with bass just a nice clear distortionless sound. the original speakers have 3 screws and i ithink were designed so they coz frustration, i was hoping someone might be able to tell me go for a set of sony, pioneer, clarion etc size 5.1/4 or 6.5 or model num and a rough price.

i have matured past my basshead days and am now middle of the road. or at least when the road is clear.

i read in the paper today that Ken gimmiesom in charge of the congestion is thinking of licensing pedal cycles so he can prosecute offenders who jump red lights and ride on pavements.

honestly has he got a butterbean for a brain or is he being an asda extra special a#$e, the cyclists are his only friends at the minute.

london is in heat wave, correct at time of going to press

The original speakers have an impedence of 1 ohm and this is not good for the output of the radio that you have now as that will be 4 ohms,, going down to 1 effectively increases the output times 4. the other hard bit is the physical size, to be truthful I wpould take a trip to a good ICE firm and ask what they would recomend.

I have a W202 and have upgraded the front speakers with custom fit Kenwoods. The woofer bolts straight in and the tweeter (above side air vents, behind grille) is a direct replacement for the MB ones. I also know Pioneer make a custom fit speaker for the W202.

finally done it i have gone for jbl gto 5.25" series in the front this needed spacers to bring the speaker forward and jbl gto 4" in the back which i had to clip the rear guard. i have a set of 6x9 ready for the rear shelf housed on mdf but i cant get the ruddy 6" standard things out

any help.

the difference is colosul,? no gigantic no
the difference is worth it and when fully completed i will have a very crisp sound without the annoying presence of a teenage joyrider in a hatchback.

thanks merc owners

Have managed to fit 8" drivers in my C180 estate front doors with a little persuasion and an 18" sub in the back without loosing any boot space, simply remove spare wheel plywood cover make a copy of it remove the spare wheel plastic clamp and mount your driver right in the centre of the spare wheel, works like a charm, I have nearly a hole milimetre clearance :)
Cheers
