'More than 50 cars were damaged in a spate of attacks by vandals in a north Devon town in the early hours, police have said.
The attacks happened in the Newport area of Barnstaple - in Rumpson Road, Hillcrest Road, Landkey Road and St Johns Lane.
Police said in every one of the 53 reported incidents, the tyres on the vehicles were slashed.
"It is incredible, wanton damage," a police spokesman said.
"This is a very serious attack on people's property."
It is believed there are not enough tyres in Barnstaple to replace them all in time for the "Monday morning rush", the spokesman added.'.
So we fill the country with speed cameras to punish the motorist if they transgress the law by a mere couple of miles but we can't find away of dealing with this sort of thing. Not the first time I've read about this sort horrendous, pointless incident this year.
