A quick heads up for people thinking of putting Satnav in a W124:
There's a Mercedes part #00754 22917 which is a speed pulse sensor to fit on the back of the speedo. This will generate a speed pulse if your car doesn't have one or if the existing speed pulse won't work with your satnav. Price is £35.32. I was recommended this even though my car has cruise control
Signals you will need to locate include:
1 - speed pulse (for GALA and satnav)
2 - phone mute feed (if you have a car kit)
3 - reversing light feed
4 - permanent live feed
5 - electric antenna connection
6 - dash illumination feed
7 - ignition-fed live
8 - earth
Numbers refer to the ISO connector A on the back of a Blaupunkt E1 Travelpilot and will be similar for all units
If you have a car kit the phone speaker inputs are in accessory C2 (pins 7 & 8) and the mute signal goes on pin 9. I am told the mute pins need to be held up (between 3 and 12 Volts) but can't confim that. If you have a Nokia CARK-91 the mute signal goes low so you'll need a relay to give a +ve signal to mute the set. The CARK-91 will switch a relay OK
